Study on the Effects of Carthami Flos Aqua - acupuncture on the Intravascular coagulation Induced by Endotoxin in Rats

Abstract
This study was performed to investigate the effects of Carthami Flos Aqua-acupuncture (C.F. Aqua-acupuncture) on the intravascular coagulation induced by endotoxin in Rats.
The intravascular coagulation was induced by injecting endotoxin into the caudal vein of rats.
Thereafter C.F. Aqua - acupuncture was injected into the corresponding Poong - Ji (G_(20)), Jok - Sam - Lee (S_(36)) and Blank loci (non-acupuncture loci at the root of the tail) in Rats.
Experimental groups are divided into 4 groups : control group, C.F. Aqua-acupuncture group treated on Poong-Ji (Sample-I). C.F. Aqua-acupuncture group treated on Jok-Sam-Lee(Sample-II), C.F. Aqua-acupuncture group treated on Blank loci (Sample-III).
And then FDP(Fibrin-Fibrinogen Degradation products) level, RBC count, hematocrit rate, prothrombin time, platelet count and concentration of fibrinogen were measured.
The results are summarized as follows :
1. Serum FDP levels in experimental groups were all decreased tend to compared with control group, FDP levels in Sample-I and Sample-II tend to be decreased compared with Sample-III.
2. RBC count in experimental groups were all increased compared with control group, RBC count in Sample-II tend to be increased compared with Sample-I.
3. Hematocrit rate in experimental groups were all increased compared with control group, hematocrit rate in Sample-I tend to be increased compared with Sample-II.
4. Prothrombin time in experimental groups were all decreased compared with control group, prothrombin time in Sample-I and Sample-II tend to be decreased compared with Sample-III.
5. The platelet count in experimental groups were all increased compared with control group, platelet count in Sample-II were significatn increased compared with Sample-I.
6. Concentration of fibrinogen in experimental groups were all increased compared with control group, concentration of fibrinogen in Sample-II tend to be increased compared with Saple-I.
